CMY Color Mixing Object

CMY object picture

The CMY object represents a Cyan-Magenta-Yellow subtractive color mixing device, for example in an intelligent fixture.

The object has small bar graphs which show the three secondary color levels, and a larger swatch area which shows the resultant mix. Note that when all three subtractive color levels are at zero the CMY mix is white, and when they are at full the CMY mix is black.

The CMY object is a linkable color source.

CMY Object Properties
  • ID - Identifying label, typically fixture number. ID can be numbers or letters, and can be a channel number, but is used for labelling only. It is not used to connect the CMY object to a DMX data address in the Patch window. CMY data addressing is specified using the 'addr start' and 'addr univ' properties. ID can be blank.

  • addr start - DMX slot address of the start of the CMY data. This is assumed to be the CYAN address, with MAGENTA at the next address and YELLOW after that, unless the cYM property (see below) is checked.

  • addr univ - DMX universe of the CMY data.

  • cYM - Checkbox to indicate that color order is CYAN-YELLOW-MAGENTA, for example in some Vari*Lite® fixtures.

  • locked - Checkbox to lock object so that it cannot be selected unless the alt/option key is pressed.
