Selecting Objects

Select a single object by clicking on it.

Hold the shift key while clicking to add or remove objects from a selection.

Click down on an empty part of the layout and drag to create a selection rectangle. When you release the mouse, everything inside the rectangle will be selected.

Hold the shift key while dragging and everything inside the rectangle will reverse its selection state.

Click once on an empty part of the layout and all objects will be deselected.

Every object has a 'locked' property which can prevent the object from being selected in the normal fashion. This is desirable when Picture or Rectangle objects are used as a background behind a large area of the layout. A locked object can be selected by holding the option key while clicking on the object, or by using the Edit > Select All menu command. Edit > Select All Not Locked will not select locked objects.
