Color Filters

VMS has a built-in library of over 600 of standard color filters. This library is used to look up display colors for scroller frame lists and for channel filter colors. Three major North American color lines are included, and the library is updated regularly.

To specify a color, use the identifying family letter followed by the filter designation. The family letters are:

  • R for Roscolux
  • G for Great American Market (GAM)
  • L for LEE
  • AP for Apollo
  • P for Rosco Permacolor (glass)

Any of several common abbreviations for no filter can also be used:

  • NC
  • N/C
  • OW
  • O/W
  • R00
  • R0
  • CLR

Capitalization is unimportant in any filter or no-color designation.

If you enter a color that VMS does not recognize, it will ask you for the closest match that it might know. It will then store that information in the layout file when it is saved so that it will not have to ask again.
