Object Properties

The factors that control the appearance and behavior of an object are called the object's properties. Values of properties can be changed in the Object Inspector window. Select one or more objects and then choose Edit > Inspect, or simply right-click (Windows) or control-click (Mac) on the selected object. The Object Inspector window will appear.

Property names are listed on the left, with the current values to the right. Values may be words, numbers, colors, or a checkbox for properties having only on/off choices. Consult the Object Reference section for a detailed description of each object's properties.

To change a word or number value, click on it and type a new value into the entry window that appears. Click OK, or press the Return or Enter key.

To change a color value, click on it and the standard Mac/Windows color picker window will appear. Choose a new color. Click OK, or press the Return or Enter key.

To change a checkbox setting, simply click on it.

When multiple objects are selected they can all be changed at once. If some selected objects have differing values for the same property, the value will be shown as "---". Changing a property value will set the new value on all selected objects that have that property.

If different types of objects are selected, all of the properties of all of the selected object types will be listed.
